Overview
Modifications to Fire System (Detection, Suppression, and PAVA).
Our team of designers reviewed all changes and modifications to the fire system to ensure they met the highest safety standards and regulatory compliances.
Challenges Faced
Complex Building Layout:
The buildings featured a mix of open-plan spaces, enclosed rooms and kitchens, necessitating a tailored approach to fire detection coverage. Ensuring complete coverage while avoiding false alarms posed a significant challenge. These works were carried out after hours when needed.
Short Turnaround for Completion:
There was a tight deadline for the unit to open and start operations the next day, necessitating efficient project management and execution.
Operational Disruptions:
Working in a live railway station with a high volume of public traffic meant minimising disruptions was critical. Work had to be scheduled and phased strategically to avoid impacting daily operations.
Collaboration with Stakeholders
Regular coordination meetings with management, contractors, and the NWR Fire team streamlined approvals and integration efforts, ensuring smooth and efficient project progression.
Proactive Procurement Strategies
By sourcing from multiple vendors and pre-ordering critical components, we mitigated the impact of supply chain delays.
Outcome:
Any modifications were planned, installed, and commissioned on time, meeting all safety standards. Our proactive approach to problem-solving ensured minimal disruptions, and the modifications were completed on schedule with minimal impact on operations.
Conclusion
Hawk Fire understands the critical importance of flexibility, collaboration, and strategic planning in fire alarm system installations. Overcoming challenges such as regulatory compliance, operational constraints, and supply chain disruptions required innovative solutions and a client-focused approach. The success of these projects has led to further collaborations with M&S, McDonald's, Greggs, Nando's, BrewDog, Wetherspoons, and numerous other retailers on future safety initiatives.
